Wharton Asia Economic Review, Issue 01

The Wharton Asia Economic Review is a student-run publication here at Penn.  It seeks to provide the academic community with analyses of social, economic, and political affairs of both modern and historical Asia.

The inaugural issue of the Wharton Asia Economic Review includes essays and interviews from a Chinese law firm, Penn professors and students, and a professor of history from Delaware State University on topics ranging from liberalism in China to demographics and sociology.

On Thursday, February 18th, Wharton China Business Society will host Madame Wu Yajun, chairwoman and CEO of Longfor Properties. Hailed as one of China’s greatest entrepreneurs, Madame Wu became the richest woman in China when Longfor debued on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in November of 2009 for over USD $1.0 billion. She will speak on the development of real estate in China, possibility of an asset bubble and what it takes to work in the real estate industry in China.

Longfor will also be seeking talented interns for the summer. All classes and majors welcome.

Wharton China Summer Tour 2010

The Wharton China Business Society Summer Program will provide interested students a chance to visit Beijing during a two-week trip where they will be able to explore both the business and cultural side of China’s capital city. While Beijing is China’s center for culture and politics, being the home to notable historic sites, it is also home to many international and local businesses that should be of interest to students looking to work in Asia.
